Instructor Spotlight: Ryan Campbell
Inspiring the Next Generation Through Music
Meet Ryan Campbell, one of Guitar Ninjas' dedicated multi-instrument instructors, teaching guitar, bass, piano, and drums.
Ryan's musical journey began in elementary school when he chose the trombone over choir in fourth grade. A year later, he picked up the electric guitar, and it quickly became a lifelong passion. Today, after more than a decade of teaching, he enjoys helping students discover that same excitement for music.
One of Ryan's biggest inspirations came from an unexpected place: School of Rock. Watching Jack Black's character connect with students through music made a lasting impression on him. It inspired Ryan to become the kind of teacher who not only helps students improve their musical skills but also builds meaningful relationships and creates a fun, encouraging environment where they can thrive.
Ryan believes some of the most rewarding moments as a teacher come when students overcome challenges and realize what they're capable of. Watching their confidence grow with every lesson is just as meaningful as seeing their musical abilities develop.
Musically, Ryan draws inspiration from both classic rock and jazz. Artists like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane have all shaped his approach to playing and teaching.
When asked what advice he'd give new music students, Ryan offered a simple but powerful reminder:
"Let the music that inspires you be your motivation to try again."
If given the chance to jam with any musician, Ryan says he'd choose Neil Young, whose songwriting, improvisation, and lyrical style have inspired him since he first picked up the guitar.
Whether he's introducing a beginner to their first chords or helping an experienced student reach the next level, Ryan is passionate about creating an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to keep growing.
