Black Pick Student Spotlight: Noah Yon

Congratulations to Noah Yon on earning his Black Pick!

Noah began taking guitar lessons at Guitar Ninjas during the summer of 2020, when lessons were still being held outdoors during the pandemic. Six years later, he has not only earned his Black Pick but continues to challenge himself through the Master Shredder Program while also studying bass with longtime instructor Mike Fandetti.

According to Noah's family, one of the biggest changes they've seen has been his growing confidence. From performing in front of audiences to believing in his own abilities, music has helped him develop the discipline and perseverance to accomplish goals that once seemed out of reach. His father shared that watching Noah reach this level of musicianship has been both inspiring and rewarding.

For Noah, earning his Black Pick represents more than completing a curriculum. It symbolizes the confidence to tackle almost any song with the right foundation and the understanding that consistent effort opens new musical possibilities.

Instructor Mike Fandetti describes Noah as "a true artist in every facet." In addition to being a dedicated guitarist and bassist, Noah enjoys creating graffiti-style artwork, designing his own clothing, and skateboarding. Mike has watched him grow into the kind of musician every band hopes to have: hardworking, curious, and always eager to learn. Whether they're sharing the stage at Jam Club or working through music theory and reading, Noah approaches every challenge with enthusiasm and determination.

When asked what advice he'd give other students, Noah offered this simple reminder:

"Sometimes you'll get stuck on a song for no apparent reason. That's when practice is the most important and effective."

His journey is proof that progress isn't always measured by how quickly you move forward, but by your willingness to keep going when things get difficult.
