Jason Land
Founder & CEO, Guitar Ninjas
Jason Land is the founder and CEO of Guitar Ninjas, a fast-growing music education company providing performance-based lessons for children and adults across Southern California. Known for combining structured curriculum, motivational psychology, and real-world performance opportunities, Jason has built Guitar Ninjas into one of the region’s most recognizable modern music schools, serving hundreds of students across multiple locations.
Originally from New Jersey, Jason moved to California in 2002 to pursue a career in music after studying production and engineering in Florida. His early professional years included songwriting, touring, session work, and collaborations between Los Angeles and Nashville. Seeking greater control over his career path and long-term impact, he transitioned into music education — a pivot that ultimately led to the creation of Guitar Ninjas.
The company began organically after Jason launched an after-school guitar program at a local elementary school in Burbank. Demand grew rapidly, with dozens of private students initially attending lessons at his home before the first commercial location opened. From the beginning, Jason focused on building systems that could scale, avoiding debt and prioritizing sustainable cash-flow growth. Today, Guitar Ninjas operates multiple locations with a centralized administrative model designed for expansion.
A defining feature of the company is the proprietary Guitar Ninjas Method — a structured, skill-based progression system inspired by martial arts belt levels and performance coaching. Students advance through measurable milestones using songs as practical testing tools, earning colored picks as they progress. The methodology has since expanded beyond guitar to include drums, piano, bass, and ukulele programs.
Jason’s leadership philosophy draws heavily from his background in athletics, coaching, and performance psychology. He emphasizes discipline, motivation, and incremental progress — principles that shape both the student experience and the company’s instructor training programs.
Beyond business growth, Jason is deeply committed to community engagement. Guitar Ninjas regularly participates in local events, youth programs, and public performances throughout Burbank and surrounding cities, providing students with opportunities to perform in real-world environments and build confidence.
Jason is currently leading the company through its next phase of expansion, with a strategic vision to scale to 1,000+ students and additional regional locations while maintaining high instructional quality and strong company culture.
