Black Pick Student Spotlight: Heston Woodlung

Congratulations to Heston Woodlung on earning his Black Pick!

For more than five years, Heston has been developing his guitar skills at Guitar Ninjas. What began with outdoor lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a passion for music that extends far beyond the lesson room.

According to Heston's family, music has become an important part of his daily life. Whether he's practicing guitar, exploring music production, or attending concerts, his love for music continues to grow. He enjoys listening to and playing a wide variety of genres and has remained committed to improving his skills despite balancing school and sports.

Earning his Black Pick was a goal Heston worked toward for years, making the achievement especially meaningful. His mother shared that one of her favorite memories was the Black Pick ceremony itself, seeing firsthand how much he had learned and how confidently he performed.

Throughout his journey, Heston has been fortunate to learn from instructors who made a lasting impact. His longtime teacher, Walker, became both a mentor and guitar instructor, while his current instructor, Lorenzo, has continued to encourage and inspire him each week.

When asked what advice he'd give to other students, Heston kept it simple:

"Stick with the program, even if it's hard at times. It pays off when you're able to do everything you want to do on guitar."

His journey is a reminder that meaningful progress doesn't happen overnight. It comes from showing up, trusting the process, and continuing to grow one lesson at a time.
